We have made one trip to New Zealand, which is a glorious country when it comes to landscapes. On a wildlife front, particularly my beloved dragonflies, it’s a long way to go for little return.
This is my modest collection of birds on that trip and it is unlikely to grow. (Incidentally, the 10 most numerous birds in New Zealand are allegedly all European imports.) Several of these are New Zealand endemics, though.
Callipepla californica | Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae | Egretta novaehollandiae |
Gallirallus australis | Haematopus finschi | Haematopus unicolor |
Microcarbo melanoleucos | Nestor notabilis | Petroica notabilis |
